On November 27, 2025, the South Granville Seniors Centre (SGSC) hosted the Seniors Support & Solutions Expo in Vancouver, BC. The event provided seniors and their families with valuable resources, informative presentations, and engaging activities. These were designed to promote wellness, safety, and community connection. Attendees had the opportunity to learn from knowledgeable professionals. They also connected with organizations dedicated to supporting older adults effectively.

The day kicked off at 10:50 a.m. with the opening ceremony by SGSC in the Main Hall on the 2nd floor. The first presentation, “Essential Documents for Personal Planning” by Maureen MacDonald, a volunteer from Nidus, ran from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the lobby. Seniors learned about organizing personal documents and planning ahead for legal, financial, and health-related decisions. As part of these sessions, they also learned how crucial seniors support can be when planning for the future. Afterward, participants enjoyed lunch in the Dining Hall from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The afternoon featured “Frauds & Scams: Protecting Yourself and Your Loved Ones”, presented by Linda Yauk from Seniors First BC from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the lobby. Seniors gained practical tips to identify scams, protect their personal information, and stay safe online and in everyday life. At 2:00 p.m., SGSC concluded the day with a prize draw and thank-you ceremony in the Main Hall, recognizing attendees and exhibitors.
One of the event’s highlights was the fun Passport Challenge. Seniors collected stamps from various booths for a chance to win raffle prizes. Volunteers guided participants through the challenge and managed the ticket collection. This added a playful and interactive element to the learning experience. My Care Matters was proud to participate, connecting with seniors and families. They shared information about compassionate home support, companionship, and caregiving services available across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. This engagement further underscored our commitment to comprehensive seniors support.
